Linger
Privacy policy
Linger has no account and no backend. Your reminders are files on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
Draft — Linger has not been released
Draft
Linger has not shipped yet. This policy describes the app as it is currently built and takes effect on the day it reaches the App Store. Confirm it against your App Store Connect privacy answers before submitting.
The short version
There is no server. Linger has no account, no sign-up, and no backend for your reminders. Everything you write stays on your phone. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no App Tracking Transparency prompt, and no third-party telemetry of any kind.
The single exception is the subscription, which is handled by Apple and RevenueCat, and is described below.
What stays on your device
- Your reminders, with their text, schedules, colours, completion history and archive, are stored as JSON files inside a private App Group container on your device. The Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets read those same files on the same phone. Nothing is uploaded.
- Your settings, such as appearance and notification style, are stored in the app's own preferences on the device.
- Linger does not sync. There is no iCloud sync, no CloudKit database, and no cross-device transfer. A reminder written on one phone exists only on that phone.
Notifications
Linger schedules local notifications only: reminders your device raises by itself at a time it already knows about. It never registers for push notifications, so no device token is generated, none is sent anywhere, and no server can send you anything.
Two kinds are scheduled: a backstop notification, so a reminder can never quietly vanish, and one reminder the day before a free trial ends. Both are created and delivered entirely on the device. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings; Linger keeps working, and cards stay on your Lock Screen.
The subscription
Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your card details, your Apple ID, or your name.
Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether a purchase is active. Linger does not create an account with RevenueCat and never sends it an email address, a name, or anything you have written in the app . It identifies your install with an anonymous identifier the RevenueCat SDK generates on its own. RevenueCat receives purchase and device information as part of validating that receipt, under its own privacy policy. Your reminders are never part of that exchange.
Whether the subscription is active is also cached on the device so a paying customer is not locked out while offline.
What we don't collect
- No account, email address, name, or password. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no tracking pixels, no advertising identifier, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No camera, photo library, contacts, calendar, microphone, location, or health access. The app requests none of these permissions, because it does not use them.
- No copy of your reminders on any server we or anyone else runs. We could not produce your data if you asked, because we do not have it.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. Because everything lives in the app's own container on your device, removing Linger removes your reminders, your history, and your settings with it. There is nothing on our side to request the deletion of.
To cancel a subscription, use Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions on your device. Cancellation is handled by Apple, not by us.
Children
Linger is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them — or, for that matter, from anyone.
Changes and contact
We will update this page if the policy changes and bump the date at the top. Any change that would make Linger transmit data off your device would be a material change, and would be stated here and in the app.
